Studio portrait of Private (Pte) B Blanck. Unable to correctly identify the soldier in this portrait but three Blanck brothers, all of Warrnambool, Vic, are listed on the First World War Nominal Roll. They are: 3024 Pte Christopher Blanck, 10th Reinforcements, 5th Battalion, who enlisted on 12 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Osterley on 29 September 1915. He returned to Australia on 8 April 1919 with the 58th Battalion, aged eighteen; 3025 Pte Harold George Blanck, 10th Reinforcements, 5th Battalion, who enlisted on 16 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Osterley on 29 September 1915. He returned to Australia on 19 March 1919 with the 5th Field Bakery, aged 23; and 4362 Pte James Alfred Blanck, 11th Reinforcements, 24th Battalion, who enlisted on 4 January 1916 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Malwa on 21 March 1916, aged twenty one. Listed on the Federation Index, Victoria 1889-1901, is another brother William Henry Blanck, aged 26, believed not to have enlisted.
