DHC-4 Caribou Aircraft

D Company is shown emplaning into an RAAF Caribou transport aircraft during training in Australia in 1968. Camouflage scrimmage on our equipment was a standard requirement. 2Lt Harry Moyle (with glasses, facing the camera) was wounded in action during Operation Quintus Thrust in March 1969 in South Vietnam and evacuated to Australia in April. The (de Havilland Aircraft of Canada) DHC-4 Caribou was a versatile tactical light transport aircraft, capable of very short take-off and landings on unprepared runways. Its main operational role was tactical air transport in support of the Australian Army both in Australia and Vietnam. It had three flight crew and was capable of carrying 32 troops.
