A Dustoff helicopter on standby at Nui Dat 'Dust Off' Helicopter
Iroquois HU 1-Series

Nui Dat, Phuoc Tuy Province, Vietnam, 1968. An Iroquois helicopter of the US Army standing by on the helipad at the 1st Australian Task Force (ATF) base, awaiting a call to carry out a "dust off" or aero-medical evacuation mission for Australian soldiers wounded in the field. Painted on the nose of the helicopter is a red cross and the title of a popular song of the time "C C Rider". The recovery winch can be seen protruding from the aircraft's starboard or right side. The large tents behind the helicopter are the soldiers' living quarters on the base.
