Luscombe Field was the airstrip built and used by the 1st Australian Task Force to ferry men and supplies in and out. It was also used as a pad for heliborne operations.
The Nui Dinh Hills are in the background. These hills have been a VC stronghold since the end of WW2. First the Viet Minh against French occupation, then the Viet Cong.
