At Long Binh March 1969
Armoured Personnel Carriers are shown
resting in a harbour position during their move of 5RAR troops on 10
March 1969 from Nui Dat to Long Binh, a major US military logistical
complex located 32 kilometres north-east of Saigon. Troop Carrying
Vehicles were also involved in this battalion redeployment, which
was in reaction to an anticipated enemy attack upon the huge
American base and then the city of Saigon. This would be a climax to
the enemy Tet offensives. 5RAR occupied a defensive position
surrounding Fire Base 'Kerry' to the north-east of Long Binh. This
was Operation Federal Overlander..
