Luscombe Field looking west

Luscombe Field

This view of Luscombe Field was taken looking west. 5RAR, (during both tours), were in the rubber trees to the right of the airstrip.

The small flat roofed building in the foreground contained the stage for Luscombe Bowl where the troops were entertained by visiting singers and bands.

Part of the large feature to the left is the north-eastern face of the Nui Dinh hills colloquially called 'The Warbies' or Warburton Mountains so named after a 5RAR soldier, named Graham Warburton.

Sadly, Pte. Graham Warburton was killed in action on the 1st of October 1966.
