Extracting Wounded.
On the morning of October 8 1966, during
'Operation Canberra, Charlie Company were searching the southern
slopes of the Nui Thi Vai Mountains when they struck two Viet Cong
trail-watchers who quickly withdrew up the track. C Company, on the
chase, encountered booby traps which wounded seven members of Roger
Wainwright's 8 Platoon. (Roger was also wounded). The photograph
shows the OC of C Company, Major John Miller talking to the pilot as
the wounded board the chopper. Private Alan Hunter can be seen with
his chest bandaged about to board.
