5RAR's transport platoon's vehicles can be seen parked by the roadway at Luscombe Field awaiting orders to proceed to their destination.

Members of the platoon carried out many duties in support on battalion operations and were a boon in carrying heavy equipment to and from the airfield.

The lead vehicle in this photograph is a short wheel-based 4 cylinder Land Rover called a 'Sports Car'. The top is removed and a vertical steel pole welded to the chassis with a M60 machine gun mounted on the top.
