Major Maizey served as Second in Command of the 5th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment in Vietnam on operations for eight months. During this period he commanded a substantial part of the Battalion on operations on several occasions. His efforts beyond the normal requirements of his duties contributed directly to the high morale of the Battalion.
