Private Noack was the first national serviceman to die in Vietnam. A fisherman and committed Lutheran, Private Noack was called up on  July 1, 1965. He did not want to go to war but accepted conscription as his duty.
During 'Operation Hardihood', Errol Noack was critically wounded and died of his wounds in 36th Evacuation Hospital on May 24 1966, 16 Days after he said farewell to his family in Adelaide.
