Our Battery had two 175 Self Propelled Guns and two 8 Inch guns. In the foreground can be seen piled empty powder charge tubes and alongside are the excess powder. One night coming back from the shower, the 175 was pointed across the road and I walked right under it as it fired. I was lifted and thrown from the concussion and lost my hearing for a few hours. Needless to say I went back to the showers!
