This photograph is of me on top of an 8 Inch showing the round on the 'rammer'. This Rammer was hydraulic and would reach to the ground and lift the next round into the Rammer. Every other day a truck load of rounds would come from Vung Tau and we would carry them by hand off the rear of the truck onto your shoulder (200lbs plus) and into the ammo bunker. The bunkers had sand on the floor so you could roll them off your back and to a soft landing.
