NUI DAT EARLY 1966
In the middle ground can be seen the
Nui Dat hill. The mountain behind the hill is the Nui Dinh. Behind
and to the left are the Nui Thi Vai and Nui Toc Tien mountain
ranges, all held by the VC prior to the arrival of 5RAR and
6RAR. A dirt
road can be seen to the right of the picture. The open area to the
left of the road, is where Luscombe Field will be built. 5RAR was
'housed' in the rubber to the right of the road.
This photograph was taken by Captain Ron
Boxall of D Company inside the Sioux Helicopter from 161 Recce
Flight approaching the hill from the east. |
