C Company evacuating wounded soldiers during Operation Canberra Extracting Wounded.

On the morning of October 8 1966, during Operation Canberra, Charlie Company was searching the southern slopes of the Nui Thi Vai Mountains when they struck two Viet Cong trail-watchers who quickly withdrew up the track. C Company, on the chase, encountered booby traps which wounded seven members of Lt. Roger Wainwright's 8 Platoon. (Roger was also wounded). The photograph shows the OC of C Company, Major John Miller talking to the pilot as the wounded board the chopper. Private Alan Hunter can be seen with his chest bandaged about to board.
